I’m currently taking on new custom wood art projects and personal commissions. To give every piece the focus and precision it deserves, I meet with clients for consultations at my Ferrum studio Monday through Thursday, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. If you're looking for a nature-inspired relief carving or a soulful woodburned portrait, it's a good idea to start the design process early. This gives us the time we need to make sure your vision comes through clearly in the final work.

What started as a hobby has grown into a lifelong practice at Jacq’s Wood Art. Based in Ferrum, Virginia, I work with responsibly sourced timber to create pieces that blend traditional carving with my own personal style. I treat wood as more than just a material; it is a way to tell a story. When I pick up a tool, I am looking for the textures and shapes hidden in the grain, creating something you can feel as much as you can see.

You will see that connection in everything I make, from realistic wildlife scenes to my detailed forest mandalas. I try to work with the wood rather than against it, following the natural growth rings and imperfections to capture the quiet energy of the outdoors.

I am a member of the National Woodcarvers Association and specialize in relief carving and pyrography. I use techniques like undercutting and perspective foreshortening to give my work a real sense of depth and life. Whether I am using a fine craft knife or a refining tool, my goal is always the same: to create elegant designs that show the care and skill that went into making them.

Whether it is a custom pet portrait or something more imaginative like a dragon or a griffin, I work closely with you to make sure the final piece is exactly what you pictured.
